Project overview
The Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) and Think City partnered on the Downtown Johor Bahru Grants Programme: Arts, Heritage & Culture. This program grants support to community projects that spark exciting, surprising, and meaningful experiences in Downtown Johor Bahru.
Aligned with IRDA's mission to revitalize the city's heritage core and build a vibrant community, the program complements the Sungai Segget project and contributes to making Johor Bahru an even more amazing place to live.
In this project, I am mostly in charge of the in-house designer for all collaterals. I'm paired with the company's Brand & Coms division to ensure I follow all brand guidelines.
Thus, the question asked:
How do we repopulate Johor Bahru post COVID-19 through specified grant program?

WHY AM I FEATURING THIS PROJECT?
1/ I learn most about stakeholder management through this project as I was involved from 0 to 1 , taking full ownership of the project

2/ I learn about project positioning and collaboration with the surrounding community in the area, managing grants programme have stretched out all my communication capability to the max.

3/ I was in the frontline of interviewing and assessing applicants, researching their backgrounds and understanding the intention of their proposals.

Understanding The Problem On Site

Initial brief from the local authorithy, internal team meeting to ensure everyone is in the same direction,
Research
We study the previous reports on the project such as what was the improvement done on the laneway previously and the acceptance of the local people on such projects.
Scope and goals of the rectification works
We move towards outlining the scope and goals of the project with the local authority and identifying their goals for this project at the end of the journey.
User behavior on site + Cultural Mapping
We then conducted few rounds of user interviews (most of it was impromptu as we don't want to scare away the public and make them hesitant to tell us their inputs on the laneway). Our goal here was to relate as much as possible the issue from their perspectives, as the day-to-day user of the space. We also manage to map out the space user day-in and day-out of that laneway. This helps prevent us from making design mistakes that might hinders the activity of the local communities.

High fidelity wireframes – Start to develop more realistic content, fonts, image dimensions or button styles.
UX and UI designs – Begin building content for the site (animations, photography, copy etc.).
Clickable prototype – I 'm able to easily collaborate with clients and content creators, as all parties can review and explore the draft website.
Commencement of Work
Populate site with content – I work with the client to add the agreed content throughout the site.
Cross browser and device testing – we test that the website works perfectly on all browsers, such as Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, Edge or Firefox, as well as across devices, including desktop, tablet and mobile (iOS and Android).
User acceptance testing – we invite small groups of users to our testing lab to gain feedback, create a bug list and discuss any amendments with the client.

Moving Forward
Adopting Wayfinding Design through Kuala Lumpur's Downtown Areas.

Placemaking is a long-run effort. Need continuous support and collaboration from multilayers of stakeholders. Solution changes overtime, but we do need the infinite drive to advocate a livable city for all. etc.
